Football blog #3

Knowledge of Sequence: On my own I think I knew it good. As I groups I think we all needed to do it more just to improve and get better each and every time.

Time: As an individual I felt that my timing was correct. As a group, most parts was off because not everyone knew the correct counts to move which threw the routine off a little. It was a little mistake that can be easily fixed.

Space: I think my space was correct but as a groups the overall spacing was off in certain parts. We needed to make our spots more certain and windows need to be cleaned.

Energy: My energy was good but it could of been stronger. I can always improve on it. As a groups we all need more energy.

Expression: As an individual my expression wasn't my best. As a group we all need more character and excitement on our face during the whole routine.

Precision: For the group and myself we need to work more on exact precision. That can improve easily with time.

Technique: I think my technique was great but wasn't amazing. I could improve on my jumps and my turns. As a group technique is our weakest area. We need to work on pointed toes and straight legs.

Ensemble: Overall, we looked great all together performing the routine we love doing.

Creativity and preparation: The dance showed off a variety of hip hop which I felt was a great for a football routine. I think that me and Larymi took the music and turned it into a wonderful dance for all to enjoy. It was a exciting halftime routine for everyone to enjoy.

After watching the video of our testing, I feel that our routine was good. We had a very few mistakes but they are mistakes we can fix easily. I thought that I knew all of the steps but I could always improve. Nobody is perfect. The whole group look very good together on time and energy. There was a few arms I noticed as a group that threw it off a little but nothing major. Since this video, I think our dance has improve 100% and is still getting better each performance. One of my favorite dance because it looks so good together.

This past week in dance, we learn how an African Dance and how to do a chance method dance. Both of them made me use a different type of dancing then I am used too. The African Dance required more upper body movements and freestyle body movements. It was difficult to adjust at first but after doing the routine and learning properly, it become lots of fun to break out of my typical dance style. I also learn how to create a chance method using numbers and movements. You had to create a number then plug in your movements. When I first saw my combination, it was challenging to come up with a dance. The method made me come up with a creative 2 8-counts that I didn't think could work after seeing my Method at first. I love doing different stuff and can't wait to what else we can do. :)

Blog 9/2/2015

So far in this class I have experienced a great first two weeks of dance. We have learned new dances and already have tests. We started out fast and I love jumping right into dance. I got chosen by my peers as a co-captain of the Varsity Dance Team. I enjoy choreography routines for others to enjoy. I want to become a dance teacher and that is the experience I need. We are done with one songs of our remix which makes me really excited for the possibilities to come.
